An Irresponsible Neglect?

Sometimes I wonder why we neglect (generally speaking; all of us may not be neglecting it) ignore or minimize the Scriptural teachings on Fasting, Spiritual Warfare, Overcoming Life, Fullness, Power & leadership of the Holy Spirit (the real pneumatic Christianity). I find these truths to be of utmost significance to our Christian life. It is an integral part of the teaching of the Word. The neglect may be because of an overreaction to all unscriptural teachings and practices by Charismatics, Deliverance ministries, Signs, Wonders & Miracles Movement and so on. But still we have to deal with these truths and apply them Scripturally. if others misinterpret it, that is their problem. It gives us all the more reasons to rightly interpret and teach it. We are engaged in a spiritual warfare, yes, it is the Mother of all Battles. We cannot ignore the Scriptural data about these topics. These are practical truths our generation needs to know and apply to be powerful and victorious in Christian life. Just consider the turmoil and evil of the times in which we live. Fasting & prayer, victory in spiritual battles, power of the Spirit....Yes, urgent need. Some friends have told me they are afraid to teach it in their assemblies because it will be considered strange, Pentecostal or Charismatic doctrines!! If the Charismatics have called our attention to these matters, I praise God. Let us not overreact and throw the baby with the bath water as we have done in several areas. Let us Search the Scriptures daily, diligently and honestly. We are called to follow the Lord and His Word. Maintaining the Status Quo is not our calling & mission.
